DC qualify for WPL 2025 semi-finals

Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by nine wickets on Saturday, thanks to astonishing and unbeaten fifties from Shafali Verma and Jess Jonassen. This victory advanced DC into the WPL 2025 playoffs. In the tournament's Bengaluru leg, RCB lost for the fourth time in a row and finished without a victory.

After being sent in, Ellyse Perry once again took the lead in RCB's battle. She scored an undefeated 60 to assist the team reach 147 for 5, but it was insufficient to defeat the table-toppers. DC benefited from the two wickets each taken by rookie left-arm spinner Shree Charani and Shikha Pandey.

DC lost Meg Lanning in the opening over, so the chase got off to a rough start. However, Shafali and Jonassen silenced the M Chinnaswamy Stadium with an unbeaten 146 stand for the second wicket, off just 77 balls. With 27 balls left, DC picked up an easy win.

At the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, DC crushed a mediocre goal of 148. Shafali Verma and Jess Jonaseen were the standout batsmen in the chase, scoring 80 and 61 runs, respectively. With Shafali scoring 80 off just 43 balls and Jonassen hitting 61 off 38 deliveries to lead the side home in 15.3 overs, both batted at the top gear and went undefeated.

In addition to blanking RCB at home, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, DC has now given them their fourth straight defeat in the tournament. After starting the competition with two straight victories, the reigning champions RCB have now dropped to a new low after suffering four straight losses, all of which have unexpectedly occurred at home.

After losing their last four games, RCB is currently experiencing significant difficulties defending their crown. With two victories in six games, they are currently in fourth place in the standings, and their window is closing.

Brief scores: Delhi Capitals 151 for 1 (Shafali 80*, Jonassen 61*), Royal Challengers Bengaluru 147 for 5 (Perry 60*, Pandey 2-24, Charani 2-28)
