India have suffered a massive setback with just few days to the start of Women's Asia Cup 2026. India's star batter Jemimah Rodrigues has seen her stint in The Hundred cut short after sustaining a hamstring injury while representing Southern Brave. Before being sidelined, the middle-order standout had produced an impressive campaign, amassing 143 runs at a strike rate of 131.19 and a healthy average of 35.75.

Injury rules Jemimah Rodrigues out of Women's Hundred

The injury comes at an inconvenient time for Team India, as Rodrigues remains an integral pillar of their batting lineup. Sitting as the country's fourth-highest run-scorer in T20 Internationals with 2,824 runs at a strike rate of 119, her fitness will be monitored anxiously by team management ahead of the upcoming Women's Asia Cup.

To fill the vacancy left by the Indian star, Southern Brave have brought in Australian all-rounder Charlie Knott for the remainder of their campaign. Rodrigues had been a cornerstone of the team's batting order, compiling 143 runs across six innings, making her departure a significant loss for the franchise.

The setback carries even bigger implications for the national side, where Rodrigues' presence in the middle order is pivotal. Should her recovery stall and rule her out of the impending Asia Cup, selectors are expected to consider either Pratika Rawal or Yastika Bhatia as the primary candidates to take her spot in the squad.
