Delhi Capitals batter Ashutosh Sharma is set for a new challenge in English cricket after securing a county deal with Hampshire for the upcoming One-Day Cup.

The 27-year-old, who represented Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 after previously featuring for Punjab Kings, will now look to make his mark in the 50-over format when the competition gets underway on July 21.
Having established himself as one of India's most exciting T20 finishers over the past few seasons, Ashutosh will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills in county cricket.

Ashutosh Sharma joins Hampshire for One-Day Cup
Hampshire announced the signing of Ashutosh Sharma for the One-Day Cup, with the Indian batter arriving after an impressive run in domestic and franchise cricket.
This will not be his first experience playing in England. Ashutosh previously represented Middlesex Titans in 2017 before turning out for Gravesend in 2022 and 2023. He also enjoyed a productive stint with Wigan in the Liverpool League last year, where he grabbed attention with a blistering 70-ball century before following it up with back-to-back half-centuries.
The Hampshire move marks another significant step in the batter's career as he continues to expand his experience across different conditions and formats.
Strong domestic form ahead of England move
Ashutosh heads to England after a solid campaign in the 2026 Madhya Pradesh League T20, where he captained the Malwa Stallions.
While widely recognised for his explosive batting, he also impressed with the ball during the tournament. Having taken only four wickets across his previous T20 career before the competition, Ashutosh finished the MPL with seven wickets in eight innings while also scoring 165 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 152.77.
The right-hander first shot into the limelight in 2023 when he broke Yuvraj Singh's record for the fastest T20 half-century by an Indian. Representing Railways against Arunachal Pradesh, he reached the landmark in just 11 deliveries, smashing eight sixes and one boundary during his sensational knock.
That innings paved the way for his IPL breakthrough. Punjab Kings signed him ahead of IPL 2024, where he scored 189 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 167.25. A year later, Delhi Capitals secured his services for INR 3.8 crore after he entered the auction with a base price of INR 20 lakh.
Across the last two IPL seasons, Ashutosh has accumulated 275 runs in 17 innings while maintaining a strike rate close to 170.
His move to Hampshire now provides him with another opportunity to strengthen his credentials in the 50-over format. So far, the Delhi Capitals batter has featured in 21 List A matches, scoring 458 runs at a strike rate of 131.60, including three half-centuries.
