After rewriting several records during IPL 2026, the Rajasthan Royals opener has reportedly become a serious topic of discussion among the national selectors as they prepare to finalize India's squad for the upcoming white-ball fixtures.
While questions remain over whether a 15-year-old should be fast-tracked into international cricket, Sooryavanshi's extraordinary performances have made a compelling case for selection.

Selectors reportedly debating Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's inclusion
According to a Cricbuzz report, the chairman of selectors, Ajit Agarkar, and his panel are in discussions about the youngster's potential inclusion in India's T20I squad.
The report stated:
"There has been considerable debate over whether it is appropriate to fast-track a 15-year-old into the national side so early, but it is understood that the selectors are seriously considering handing the Rajasthan Royals batter the national cap."
The selectors are expected to meet during India's upcoming one-off Test against Afghanistan to finalize the squads for the Ireland T20Is and the subsequent five-match series against England.
Given his performances over the last few months, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of the strongest contenders for a breakthrough opportunity.
Record-breaking IPL 2026 season puts youngster in spotlight
The left-handed opener enjoyed one of the most remarkable campaigns in IPL history during the 2026 season. Sooryavanshi finished as the Orange Cap winner after scoring 776 runs in 16 matches at a staggering strike rate of 237.30. He also shattered the record for the most sixes in a single IPL season, smashing 72 maximums.
His dominant season earned him multiple accolades, including the Emerging Player of the Season award, Most Valuable Player (MVP), Super Striker of the Season, and the Most Sixes award.
The teenager has already been named in the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka featuring Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A.
However, with reports suggesting the selectors are seriously considering him for the senior side, there remains a possibility that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi could receive an international opportunity sooner than expected.
