Story Highlights:

Shaun Tait resigned as Bangladesh's fast-bowling coach after one year, citing the need to spend more time with his young family.

The former Australia pacer played a key role in developing Bangladesh's pace attack, including their historic Test series win over Pakistan.

Bangladesh cricket has suffered a significant setback ahead of its upcoming white-ball assignments, with former Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait stepping down from his role as the national team's fast-bowling coach after just one year in the position.

The 43-year-old, who joined the Bangladesh setup in May 2025 on a contract that was due to run until November 2027, has resigned with immediate effect, bringing an early end to his tenure with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

Shaun Tait explains decision behind Bangladesh resignation

Tait revealed that his decision was primarily driven by a desire to spend more time with his young family after a demanding year in a full-time international coaching role.

Reflecting on his time with Bangladesh, the former Australian speedster spoke positively about his experience and the relationships he built within the team.

"My 12 months with the BCB and the Bangladesh national team was fulfilling. I want to thank the BCB. I really enjoyed working with the players. I have a great relationship with the fast bowling group. They were good to work with, and I created some really good relationships in Bangladesh, around the cricketing community in general."

Despite leaving the position, Shaun Tait indicated that he remains open to returning to Bangladesh cricket in the future through franchise opportunities or other roles.

"I don't think that'll be the closed door on my time in the country. There's obviously BPL and what not. You never know what the future holds."

"But for the time being, my young family need a bit more of my time. So, the full-time role of year-round red and white-ball cricket, my 12 months was enough and it's time to just step back and give my family a little bit more time."

Tait leaves after helping transform Bangladesh's pace attack

During his year-long stint, Shaun Tait played an important role in developing Bangladesh's fast-bowling unit, which emerged as one of the team's biggest strengths across formats.

Under his guidance, Bangladesh's pacers delivered several memorable performances, including the historic 2-0 Test series victory over Pakistan. Tait had repeatedly backed the country's pace resources and urged Bangladesh to embrace fast bowling as a key weapon moving forward.

The BCB is now expected to begin the search for a permanent replacement. According to reports, former Bangladesh pacer Talha Jubair is being considered as an interim option for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia, scheduled to begin in Dhaka on June 9.

Tait's departure marks the end of a productive chapter, but his impact on Bangladesh's fast-bowling culture is likely to be felt long after his exit.
