In a post-match interview, the 41-year-old Portuguese superstar responded to questions about a possible matchup: 

“Facing Leo Messi at the World Cup? The question doesn’t make a lot of sense… but ok. It would be TOP.”

Ronaldo, however, quickly shifted focus to Portugal’s recent victory, in which he found the net. He added:

“But my focus was on today. We won, I have been able to score, we keep going together. I am happy.”
