Chelsea is entering a new era following their relegation from the UEFA Champions League. The Blues are going through major changes, with the hiring of Xabi Alonso as their new head coach for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, the club has dropped a major update on one of the possible departures in the coming days.

Alonso has confirmed that winger Alejandro Garnacho will leave the club this summer, citing interest from other teams and expressing hope for a resolution that benefits all parties. In his first major squad update since taking charge on 1 July, Alonso addressed Garnacho’s future directly. He said:

“There is interest in him from other clubs. Hopefully it finishes in the best possible way for everyone.”

Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United for approximately £40 million last summer but endured a difficult debut campaign. Despite early promise, the Argentine international saw his playing time diminish significantly, failing to secure a regular starting role and drawing occasional criticism from supporters.

With Alonso reshaping the squad ahead of the new Premier League season, Garnacho has been omitted from first-team preseason training. Reports indicate Chelsea are open to a permanent sale, valuing the 21-year-old around €50 million, though loan proposals with buy options are also under consideration.

Italian side Roma have already submitted an offer involving a €5m loan with a €35m option to buy, according to sources close to the negotiations. The development marks one of the first major outgoing transfers under Alonso’s tenure as Chelsea look to streamline their squad following significant investment in recent windows.
