Barcelona boss Hansi Flick has cast doubt on Raphinha's presence in their La Liga game against Real Sociedad this weekend. The Brazilian is dealing with a niggle and is set for a late fitness test.
Reports earlier this week said that Raphinha was a doubt for the Spanish Super Cup clash against Real Madrid in Saudi Arabia. The winger was facing a thigh issue, but passed fit hours before the final.
The former Leeds United star went on to produce a brace in the 3-2 win and was benched in the Copa del Rey game. He did come off the bench in the 2-0 victory against Racing Club, but is now dealing with a knock.
Interacting with the media ahead of the Real Sociedad game, Flick confirmed that his star winger could miss the league clash and said:
"Yes, he's having problems after a knock, and we'll see what we decide and whether he plays or rests tomorrow."
Raphinha is yet to complete a game in 2026, having come off against Espanyol, Athletic Bilbao, and Real Madrid this year. He has been in red-hot form for the Spanish side this season, amassing seven goals and assisting thrice in the league.
Marcus Rashford expected to Raphinha in Barcelona starting XI
Barcelona have signed Marcus Rashford through loan for the season, and the Manchester United star is set to start the game if Hansi Flick decides to rest Raphinha. The English winger has done well for the club this season, amassing four goals in the UEFA Champions League and two in the league.
Flick addressed the forward's future at the club and said:
“His performances have been good so far, but it’s something we need to manage with Deco and the club. We still have plenty of time, months ahead. Marcus is a top player, and we appreciate his situation. We are Barça, and we are one of the best in the world."
“It’s like what I say about the players from La Masia. We give them the opportunity to play and trust them. If you want to play for Barça, we’ll be 100% behind you. That’s what I want to see from other players.”
Barcelona have a €30 million option to sign the Manchester United loanee permanently, but are looking to reduce the fee by holding conversations with the Premier League side. They are also open to loaning him for another season with an obligation to buy based on performance.
