Harry Kane has downplayed talk of winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or. The Bayern Munich star has insisted the decision lies with the voters despite his outstanding campaign. The English star believes that it is the biggest award one can win; however, it's not up to him in the end, but he has done his part by performing his best.

Bayern Munich star Harry Kane stays humble to win Ballon d’Or after record-breaking season
Speaking recently, Kane said:
“It’s the biggest award you can get.”
The Bundesliga forward added:
“The Ballon d’Or isn’t in my hands. I’ve done what I could in terms of performing. Of course, it would be fantastic if it happens. But ultimately, there’s still 2-3 months until a decision is made.”
Kane enjoyed the most prolific season of his career in 2025/26. He scored 61 goals in 51 appearances for Bayern Munich across all competitions, helping the club secure a domestic double by winning the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal. Bayern also reached the Champions League semi-finals, with Kane contributing 14 goals in Europe.
At the 2026 World Cup, Kane netted six times as England advanced to the semi-finals before exiting the tournament. His club and international form have propelled him to the top of the Ballon d’Or betting markets, where he currently leads favourites ahead of contenders including Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Lionel Messi.
The award is traditionally presented in October. Kane’s consistent excellence and trophy haul have made him a strong candidate to become the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001, though the final verdict rests with the international panel of journalists.
