Bryan Mbeumo reacts after losing against Manchester United teammate Noussair Mazraoui's Morocco in AFCON

Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo expressed his thoughts after Cameroon team faced 2-0 defeat against his club teammate Noussair Mazraoui's Morocco in the Afcon quarter-finals on Friday, January 9.

Brahim Diaz started the scoring for the hosts at Prince Moula Abdellah midway through the first period before Ismael Saibari's second half goal ended Mbeumo and Company's search for a sixth continental title. It was Morocco's first AFCON win against Cameroon in four games.

While Mazroaoui failed to score in the game, he earned praise from his Red Devils teammate, who said after Cameroon's AFCON elimination (as per Le360 via United in Focus):

“Of course, I have a very good relationship with Nouss (Mazraoui). I obviously wish him the very best. He had a very good match tonight.”

 

 

While Mbeumo will now return to Old Trafford to restart his club duties, Mazaroui's Morocco are two wins away from a second continental title, having not made the last-four since reaching the 2004 final (losing 2-1 to hosts Tunisia).

Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui have had opposite seasons for Manchester United so far, especially Mbeumo, with the forward coming from Brentford in the summer.

Mbeumo has scored seven goals and one assist in 17 games across all competitions. Six of those goals and the assist have come in 16 games in the Premier League, where the Red Devils stand at seventh place after 21 games, winning eight.

Manchester United played five games in Mbeumo's absence, United have won just once, drawing their last three, consisting of a 2-2 stalemate at Burnley at the weekend.

On the other hand, Mazaoui has had an injury-plagued season for the Red Devils, playing just nine games - all in the Premier League, proving zero goal contribution.
