Following back-to-back losses, Liam Rosenior’s side has been hit with a £10.75 million fine by the Premier League for breaching financial regulations, alongside a suspended one-year transfer ban for the youth team and an immediate nine-month ban on academy transfers.

The penalties announced stem from violations related to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), including issues around financial reporting, third-party investment, and youth development, largely tied to the club's operations during the Roman Abramovich ownership era.

The charges mainly focus on the transfers held between the 2010-11 and 2015-16 seasons. These include deals for superstars like Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto'o, Willian, David Luiz, Andre Schurrle, Ramires, and Nemanja Matic.

The first-team transfer ban is suspended for two years, meaning Chelsea can continue signing senior players in upcoming windows provided they avoid further breaches during that period, which would trigger the sanction.

The punishment follows increased scrutiny on Chelsea's finances since the 2022 takeover by a consortium led by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital, amid heavy spending on transfers and efforts to comply with both Premier League and UEFA requirements.

It has been stated that the Premier League found out that illicit payments were doled out to players, unregistered agents, and others between 2011 and 2018. Back in  September, the team was initially charged with 74 breaches.
