Ronaldo has suggested the next coach for Al-Nassr.

Cristiano Ronaldo has officially committed his future to Al Nassr FC, extending his contract until 2027. The announcement ends weeks of speculation surrounding the Portuguese striker’s future and reaffirms his deepening ties with Saudi football. With this renewed agreement, Ronaldo is set to continue donning the iconic number 7 jersey for the Riyadh-based side.

In an official statement, Al Nassr’s president, Musalli Al Muammar, hailed the extension as a “historic contract,” underscoring Ronaldo’s importance both on and off the pitch. The club described the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star as “a role model for young people around the world,” highlighting that the partnership “goes beyond football.”

Ronaldo’s influence extends to managerial choices

In a move that illustrates Ronaldo’s growing influence within the club, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner has reportedly suggested Jorge Jesus as the ideal candidate to lead Al Nassr’s next chapter. This recommendation comes in the wake of Stefano Pioli’s departure following a disappointing season.

According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Ronaldo personally requested the appointment of Jorge Jesus, a compatriot with whom he shares a strong professional rapport. Sources indicate that initial talks have already taken place, although Jorge Jesus is currently under contract with Al Hilal, Al Nassr’s fiercest rival in the Saudi Pro League.

Whether the move materializes will depend on negotiations between the two Saudi giants, but Ronaldo’s endorsement adds considerable weight to the proposal.

End of the road for Pioli

Stefano Pioli exits after a challenging season that saw Al Nassr finish third in the league, trailing champions Al Ittihad by 13 points. The club also failed to qualify for the AFC Champions League, a significant setback despite Pioli’s previous success with AC Milan, where he won the Serie A title in 2022.

“Grazie per tutto” (“Thank you for everything”), wrote Ronaldo in Italian on social media, bidding farewell to the outgoing coach with respect.

Al Nassr looks ahead

With Ronaldo’s contract renewal secured and a new managerial direction on the horizon, Al Nassr is poised to strengthen its competitive edge both domestically and in Asia. Ronaldo's dual role as both star player and strategic influencer highlights his pivotal position in shaping the club’s future ambitions.
