Former Real Madrid boss Fabio Capello has picked Ronaldo Nazaio as the best player he has coached. The Italian also said that he had to sell the Brazilian during his stint at Santiago Bernabeu because he was a negative influence.

Interacting with MARCA (via MadridXtra), Capello disclosed that he had to sell Ronaldo because disliked losing weight and wanted to party most of the time. However, he believes that the striker was the most talented player he worked with and said:
"Best player I've coached? Ronaldo Nazário. He didn't like losing weight, he liked life, and I kicked him out of Real Madrid. But if you ask me who's the best, it's him easily, by far."

Ronaldo Nazario spoke about his off-pitch life on the Charla Podcast in2025, admitting that he was always at a party or travelling during his stint at Real Madrid. The Brazilian icon said that he used to travel early morning from Paris to Madrid and head straight for training and said:
“I was at all of them. I played on Saturday and then went to Paris. I spent Sunday in Paris and went to the party at night. At seven in the morning, I caught the plane to Madrid and arrived at nine in the morning with training at ten. I did this many time. In the city you play in, you either have a house party or you’re done for. So I branched out and traveled. I’ve always been one to throw parties and make sure everyone is happy.”
