Saudi Arabia has taken a pivotal move in its quest to host the 2034 World Cup, having formally conveyed its intention by submitting a letter to FIFA, the global football authority, this Monday.

"Last week we announced our ambitions to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup, and this official submission continues our journey to make the dreams of our people a reality," stated Yasser Al Misehal, the President of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF).

In his remarks, he further emphasised, "We are extremely committed to presenting the most competitive bid possible that will also help unite the world through football."

Following SAFF's proclamation last Wednesday regarding their ambition to host the prestigious tournament, they highlighted that "over 70 FIFA Member Associations from across different continents have publicly pledged their support for the Kingdom."

Only a week prior, FIFA unveiled Morocco, Spain, and Portugal as the hosting nations for the 2030 World Cup. In a nod to the tournament's centennial, the inaugural matches are set to be orchestrated by Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.

Ever since 2022, there has been a notable intensification of football initiatives within Saudi Arabia. This fervour has successfully lured several of the globe's premier football talents through enticing financial packages. A monumental moment in Saudi Arabia's football journey was their astonishing victory over Argentina in the initial match of the FIFA World Cup 2022, a clash that has since been etched in the annals of the World Cup's most surprising outcomes, held in Qatar.

Despite this early setback, Argentina rallied to clinch the World Cup title, with football maestro Messi crowned as the player of the tournament.

The next edition of the FIFA World Cup will take place in 2026 in USA, Mexico and Canada. This is the first time that the mega football event will be taking place in three separate countries. It will prove to be one of the biggest editions of the competition to ever be held.
