Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed that he has a plan for Tuesday's UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against FC Barcelona, amid the high stakes at the Metropolitano Stadium.
Atletico boss Diego Simeone's clear warning on UCL second leg vs Barcelona
Simeone’s side defeated the La Liga table toppers 2-0 to the Catalans club and have an advantage moving into the return leg. Meanwhile, to avoid any comeback from Hansi Flick’s side, Atletico boss has a plan to apply when they host Barca on Tuesday.
When asked about the second leg, Simoene said:
“I have a plan and I won’t change my mind on that”.
The second leg, scheduled for Tuesday evening in Madrid, sees Atlético as strong favorites to advance to the semi-finals. Simeone's renowned pragmatic style, built on a compact defensive side, intense pressing, and swift counter-attacks, has historically troubled possession-heavy teams like Flick's Barcelona.
Atlético's victory in Barcelona was a tactical masterclass. They took advantage on Pau Cubarsí's red card in the 44th minute, with Álvarez scoring just before halftime and Sørloth adding a second in the 70th minute. The result marked Atlético's first win at Camp Nou since 2006 and left Barcelona facing an uphill battle to overturn the deficit at home.
