Raphinha was substituted at half-time during Brazil’s 4-2 friendly victory over Australia on Tuesday after experiencing muscle discomfort in his right thigh as per a report by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). The Barcelona forward’s injury comes just ahead of his side facing India in a friendly clash. It has raised concern for the fans in India about whether they will be able to see him playing on home soil.

The 29-year-old, who captained the side in the absence of Marquinhos, had scored from the penalty spot just before the break to level the score at 2-2 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. He was replaced by Endrick and did not return for the second half. Brazil recovered strongly after the interval, with Bruno Guimaraes and Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr among the scorers as Carlo Ancelotti’s team secured the win.

Meanwhile, the CBF has stated that further medical updates would follow after the match. The incident raises fresh concerns for both the national team and Barcelona. Raphinha has a well-documented history of muscle problems in the same area, including a significant injury during the 2026 World Cup that limited his involvement.
Club officials will closely monitor the situation as Brazil prepare for another friendly against India on Saturday. Further tests are expected to determine the extent of the discomfort and whether the player will remain with the squad or return to Spain early. Meanwhile, Ancelotti's former Real Madrid manager’s side is all set to play India on October 3 in Kolkata. It remains to be seen if Raphinha will be fit enough to play.
