Manchester United and Liverpool played out a thriller at the Anfield on Sunday. There was no separating both teams at the full time as the scoreline fixated at 2 goals apiece. Ahead of the match, United manager Rubin Amorim was under tremendous pressure the team has had some disastrous performances in the last couple of weeks. However, on the day against the table toppers, The Red Devils kept their composure till the end to take away a point. United even had the chance to steal the victory in the end but Harry Maguire failed to convert from point-blank range. For Arne Slot and Liverpool, it may go down as a chance lost to capture all three points.

Manchester United vs Liverpool: Match Summary

It was Manchester United, who broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute of the match, courtesy of Lisandro Martinez's strike. Seven minutes later Cody Gakpo equalized for The Reds. Taking the momentum from the goal, Liverpool started to dictate things and on the 70th minute Mohamed Salah slotted home from the spot to take Liverpool 2-0 up. It wasn't the last goal action of the night though as Amad Diallo scored in the 80th minute to level the score for United. In the dying minutes of the match, Harry Maguire was served perfectly by Joshua Zirkzee to find the winner, but the Englishman could not keep the ball down. Eventually, the referee blew the final whistle, and the match ended at two all.

Bruno Fernandes On Manchester United's Performance

Following the culmination of the match, Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes expressed his thoughts on the match, conveying both relief and disappointment over the result.

Obviously we've been criticised, and fairly, because the position in the table says it all, he told Sky Sports. We've lost too many points. Even today, we can't be happy with the draw, because we need points more than they need.

According to Fernandes, the team needs to keep the performance in mind and deliver the same, week in and week out.

It's a really good result and a fair result, both teams played good football, and it was intense. I'm pretty upset because we can show this against Liverpool at Anfield, first in the league, the outstanding team in the Premier League this season, why can't we do this every week?

A point hasn't benefitted United by huge bounds as they are still 13th on the league table. Liverpool on the other hand are at the top of the tree with 6 points lead and a match in hand against the second placed Arsenal.
