The Brazil national team are reportedly eyeing to sack head coach Dorival Junior with immediate effect. Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti is the manager who is in contention to replace Junior.

Dorival Junior took over as the head coach of Brazil national team in January 2024 but has been unable to bring success to the team. The Selecao had an unforgettable 2024 Copa America as they were eliminated in the quarterfinals. They are even fourth in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers table with 21 points from 14 games.
The latest defeat came at the hands of Argentina as they defeated Brazil 4-1 in the 2026 World Cup clash, which took place on March 25. The Brazil national team have been linked with Carlo Ancelotti for couple of years now. However, the latter has been serving as the Los Blancos head coach.
According to the latest reports by UOL Esporte (h/t Fabrizio Romano), the Brazil national team are set to sack Dorival Junior immediately. The officials will hold one final meeting before taking a decision on Junior's future. Meanwhile, the links related to Ancelotti still remain strong.
The Italian coach is currently busy with Real Madrid's season in the UEFA Champions League, La Liga and Copa del Rey. The Spanish giants are still contending for these three titles and are at crucial stage in the season.
Carlo Ancelotti opens up on the links to the Brazil national team
In a pre-match press conference (h/t Fabrizio Romano), Real Madrid's head coach Carlo Ancelotti was asked about his link ups with the Brazil national team. The Italian mentioned that he is only focusing on succeeding with Real Madrid and said,
I appreciate Brazil, but there was NO contact at all between the Federation and myself in the recent days. My full focus is on Real Madrid. I’m under contract at Real Madrid and my focus is on winning titles. We have important targets now.
Ancelotti has been one of the most successful coaches of all time for the Los Blancos. He has won three Champions League titles, which included the famous La Decima (2013-14). Some of his other trophies include two La Liga titles, two Copa del Rey and two Spanish Super Cups.
During the ongoing Champions League campaign, Real Madrid will look to defend their title as they take on Arsenal in the quarterfinals. They will also look to beat Barcelona for the iconic La Liga title as the former are three points ahead of Madrid. They have reached the semi finals of Copa del Rey and are awaiting the second leg against Real Sociedad. The Spanish giants won 1-0 during the first leg.
