Chelsea legend John Terry has congratulated the club following their win against Burnley in the Premier League, requesting them to take proper rest ahead of the game vs Barcelona in midweek. The Blues secured a 2-0 win over Burnley for a third successive league win and will turn their attention towards the UEFA Champions League.
Terry shared a video on TikTok following Enzo Maresca's team scored a second to secure all three points at Turf Moor. He appreciated the performance and expressed his excitement for the Chelsea vs Barcelona game. He advised the players to get some rest ahead of the crucial games at Stamford Bridge.
"Good performance, I think the only thing for me is probably in the second half we probably need to take our chances against the bigger and better sides. But a win's a win and I speak about the importance of that after the international break, as well. So great win from the boys, a big, big week ahead. Barcelona Tuesday night at the Bridge followed by Arsenal at Stamford Bridge and we'll be there. But another big win as we close the gap on the teams above us. Delighted, another clean sheet and we go again. So let's make sure we rest up and I'll see you at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night", he said (via Chelsea News).
Chelsea boss Maresca will be happy with the result of the game, and the fact that he got to rest several pivotal players. Skipper Reece James played just 45 minutes before he was replaced by the returning Benoit Badiashile in the game.
The Blues were also able to fully rest star midfielder Moises Caicedo and forward Alejandro
Garnacho for the visit of the Spanish club.
Joe Cole shares his observation about Chelsea skipper Reece James
Chelsea skipper Joe Cole has disclosed his observation about the club's skipper and Reece James, following their win over Burnley. The England international played in the first half as his side defeated the Clarets 2-0 to go up to second on the log ahead of the clash vs Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Expert Joe Cole spoke about TNT Sports about James, pointing to his calmness and assuredness as his unique features. He appreciated the versatile defender for learning about his body in order to prolong his career better and gave some credit to the club.
“Every dealing I’ve had with him, he’s quiet, calm and assured, you can be that type of leader, and he has that. He’s building this calmness, this style he’s maturing, he’s figuring out his body. I think he’s a different player to the one who burst onto the scene, he’s working it out, he’s a credit to himself and to Chelsea", he said (via Chelsea News).
Reece James came off at halftime in what seemed to have been a premeditated substitution against Burnley. The 25-year-old has played 12 times for the Blues this season and will hope to feature for the side against Barcelona.
