Kylian Mbappe has rejected reports claiming Real Madrid's medical staff performed an MRI on the wrong knee during his December 2025 injury assessment, calling the information false and stressing consistent, clear communication with the club.
Kylian Mbappé denies wrong knee diagnosis rumors at Real Madrid
The French superstar addressed the speculation on Wednesday during a press conference with the French national team ahead of upcoming internationals. He said:
“The information that Real Madrid examined the wrong knee is NOT true”.
The Frenchman continued:
"We've always had clear communication with Real Madrid.”
The Real Madrid forward suggested that limited public comments from his side may have indirectly fueled rumors, as media and fans rushed to believe it. The former Paris Saint-Germain added that his knee feels good and he is focused on returning to full fitness.
The rumor surfaced earlier this week in reports, alleging that Madrid initially scanned Mbappe's uninjured right knee instead of his problematic left knee after he reported pain. This purported misdiagnosis allegedly allowed him to play through inflammation and a possible partial ligament issue for several matches before the error was corrected.
The story raised questions about the club's medical protocols and contributed to ongoing scrutiny of Mbappé's availability amid a nagging knee problem that has sidelined him at various points this season. Following the speculations, the World Cup winner had to come forward to address the rumors and call them false.
