Jamie Carragher has declared that Mohamed Salah's Premier League legacy surpasses that of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Liverpool legend has ranked the Egyptian forward second only to Thierry Henry among overseas attackers in English football history.
The former Reds defender made the bold claim as Salah prepares to depart Anfield at the end of the season following nine transformative years at the club. Carragher praised Salah's "devastating numbers" and season-after-season consistency, noting his 435 appearances and an average of more than 48 games per year.
Liverpool legend claims Mohamed Salah has bigger Premier League legacy than Cristiano Ronaldo
The former player mentioned Salah’s pivotal role in delivering Liverpool's Champions League triumph and two Premier League titles under Jürgen Klopp. Carragher wrote in his column for the Telegraph:
"In the pantheon of overseas attacking players to have excelled in England, only Thierry Henry eclipses Salah's output and consistency.”
The English football analyst argued that while players like Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Gianfranco Zola, Dennis Bergkamp, and Eric Cantona delivered moments of brilliance, none matched Salah's sustained excellence and extraordinary availability. The 48-year-old continued by saying:
"Ronaldo's time at Manchester United, both initially and upon his return, was either side of his absolute, Real Madrid-peak years.”
The former Premier League player then said:
“Salah edges ahead of him when judging strictly on Premier League performance and impact.”
Carragher added that Salah would be an "automatic inclusion" in an all-time Premier League XI front three alongside Henry and Ronaldo. Meanwhile, Salah has announced a bombshell update to leave Arne Slot’s side this summer after almost a decade.
