How many times have Real Madrid and Man City faced each other in UCL?

Manchester City and Real Madrid will face each other in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages for an unprecedented fifth consecutive season. This historic matchup, confirmed as the first such repeat fixture in Champions League history at the knockout level, pits Pep Guardiola's side against the 15-time winners once again. 

As per a report by OptaJoe, Manchester City vs Real Madrid is the first UEFA Champions League knockout tie to occur in five consecutive seasons, marking their 2025/26 last-16 clash. The rivalry has intensified dramatically since the 2021/22 campaign, featuring high-stakes encounters including Los Blancos' semi-final victories over the Sky Blues in 2022 and 2023, a quarter-final elimination of Guardiola’s side in 2024, and another knockout clash in the prior season. 

The teams also met in the 2025/26 league phase, where City secured a 2-1 win at the Santiago Bernabeu. Across 15 total meetings, the record stands evenly balanced with five wins each and five draws. Meanwhile, the two-legged tie is scheduled for March 10/11 and 17/18, with City hosting the second leg after their strong league phase performance.
