Barcelona skipper Raphinha has expressed his disappointment towards the match officials, after the Spanish club's shocking 2-1 defeat against Girona in La Liga.
Bad luck continues for Barcelona
Allegedly, Barcelona faced a couple of decisions to go against them in the last two league games. Barca lost 4-0 against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of Copa del Rey semi-final at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano.
Controversial decisions took place against Barcelona
The game against Atletico was filled with a couple of shocking decisions, as Pau Cubarsi's goal was disallowed because of offside after a long eight-minute VAR check and Los RojiBlancos' forward Giuliano Simeone escaped a red card after a studs-up challenge.
Disappointed with the level of match officiating in the game against Atletico Madrid, Barca filed an official complaint to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) protesting against inconsistencies from the match referees.
Although the complaint did not work as they suffered a more humiliating loss against Girona. Several Barcelona players, consisting of manager Hansi Flick, voiced their disappointment with the bizarre level of match officiating following Monday's match at Estadi Montilivi.
Raphinha vows to make a comeback
Barca's skipper Raphinha did not mince his words, as he took to Instagram on Tuesday, saying that the rules are working against Barcelona. Although, the Brazilian player tried to express confidence in his team's potential to turn the tables around and fight for the league title till the end of the season.
He wrote in the caption:
“Well, we have a lot to improve on, but not just us. It's very complicated when the rules are different whether it's for you or against you, but if we have to play against everyone, to win, it's okay... We're going to make it. Visca el Barca always”
Next challenge for Barcelona
The Catalan club will face 19th placed Levante at the Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday, February 22, Barcelona. Barcelona will aim to bank on the home advantage and put some challenge for the league leaders Real Madrid.
