Carlo Ancelotti Confirms Kylian Mbappe Will Sit Out Against Getafe

Real Madrid will travel to Getafe in the mid-week, and nothing more than a win would keep them afloat in the title race. Yet, they will not enter the Coliseum with a full-strength side as boss Carlo has made it known that Kylian Mbappe will sit out for the game. It should be noted that Mbappe is the top scorer for Real Madrid this season, and with 22 goals he is in the Pachichi race with Robert Lewandowski who is leading the standings with 25 goals. Mbappe would have had the perfect opportunity to come close to Lewandowski's tally, as the Barcelona striker will remain out for a considerable period owing to the injury he suffered during the game against Celta Vigo. However, Mbappe will have to wait and rest up for the bigger objective.

According to Ancelotti, Mbappe has been rested so that he could come charged up for the Copa del Rey final. Real Madrid and Barcelona will come face to face in the tournament's finale, scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 27. Mbappe is expected to play a key role for Madrid in the cup final against Barca.

Mendy Will Miss Too

Along with Kylian Mbappe, fullback Ferland Mendy will also miss out on the game against Getafe, due to the same reason. Madrid played without Mbappe this weekend against Athletic Club and carved out a 1-0-win, courtesy of a Fede Valverde banger. Ancelotti placed a 4-4-2 formation in the game, and he will likely follow the same setup in the game against Getafe.

Real Madrid's Season Hangs in Balance

Considering the delicate phase they are in, Madrid needs to put on their A game in every match from here on. They have already crashed out of the Champions League but are still alive in Copa del Rey and La Liga. Hence, they are expected to leave no stone unturned in attaining silverware and make the season worth something.
