Real Madrid’s season has not gone as expected. While their UEFA Champions League season ended in the quarterfinals against Bayern Munich, La Liga is currently led by arch-rivals FC Barcelona. The Spanish giants are currently going through changes, and as part of it, they are set to add one of their former players to the squad for next season.
Real Madrid planning shock move for former player as part of next season squad
Alvaro Arbeloa’s side are planning to bring highly-rated Brazilian forward Endrick back into their senior squad for the 2026-27 season following his loan spell at Olympique Lyon, according to reports in Spain. The 19-year-old, who joined the club with expectations, is said to be eager to return to the Santiago Bernabéu and prove himself at the highest level.
Club officials are awaiting greater clarity on the managerial situation before finalizing squad plans, but sources indicate a strong internal belief in Endrick’s long-term potential. Diario AS reports that Madrid’s hierarchy views the young striker as a key part of the club’s future attacking options. His anticipated integration could lead to the departure of fellow young forward Gonzalo García to maintain squad balance and provide opportunities for the Brazilian to develop under senior competition.
Endrick arrived at Real Madrid in 2024 amid massive hype after his performances with Palmeiras. The loan move to Lyon was designed to secure regular first-team minutes, and his progress there has reinforced the club’s confidence in promoting him permanently into Arbeloa’s or his successor’s setup. However, it is not certain that Arbeloa, the former player of the club, will stay with the Los Blancos as Jose Mourinho is reportedly taking over the team.
