Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has hit back at critics of his team's high-scoring UEFA Champions League semi-final first-leg victory over Bayern Munich. The match has been hailed as one of the greatest UCL matches by the fans, with a nine-goal thriller.

However, PSG's head coach has been criticised over the results after the Ligue 1 side conceded four goals by the German club. Replying to them, Enrique has insisted that entertaining football should take priority over defensive caution.

Speaking after PSG's dramatic 5-4 home win on 28 April 2026, Enrique rejected negative opinions about the match's open nature. He said:

“You shouldn't respect all opinions… because if it's a shitty opinion you shouldn't respect it”.

The PSG head coach added that most people who love football, including himself, enjoyed the game, which featured nine goals in one of the most entertaining European ties in recent memory.

The Frenchman stated that while some prefer a more cautious approach, the majority of fans appreciate attacking football:

“There will be people who like to play football this way, which is the majority, and here I include myself, and others who don't like to play like that”.

Enrique added:

“I don't care about those opinions. What we show is that most people who love football enjoyed it and that's the important thing”.
