Spanish journalist makes big claim on Real Madrid president Florentino Perez

Interacting with El After de Post United, Roncero said that Ronaldo wanted half of what Lionel Messi was already earning at Barcelona, but Real Madrid refused. He said that it was one of the main reasons why the striker left the club, as Perez was  rigid about not paying him what he was asking for in 2018.

“I always agree with 95% of Florentino Pérez’s decisions. But I disagreed with him on this matter (Cristiano leaving). Because clearly there was also a financial aspect, but I believe what Cristiano asked for was not something that should have been refused. Just imagine, what Cristiano asked for was half of what Messi earned that year. He was asking for half of what Messi earned in a year when Cristiano won the Ballon d’Or and the Champions League.”

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus for a reported €100 million deal, before leaving the club three years later to rejoin Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo reveals why he left Real Madrid

Cristiano Ronaldo interacted with France Football in 2018, revealing that he left Real Madrid because of the club president. He accused Florentino Perez of not treating him properly at the club, signaling that his time at the club was not taken seriously. He said:

“I felt it inside the club, especially from the president, that they no longer considered me the same way that they did in the start. In the first four or five years there, I had the feeling of being ‘Cristiano Ronaldo’. Less afterwards. The president looked at me through eyes that didn’t want to say the same thing, as if I was no longer indispensable to them, if you know what I mean.

“That’s what made me think about leaving. Sometimes I’d look at the news, where they were saying I was asking to leave. There was a bit of that but the truth is I always had the impression the president would not hold me back."
