India is all set to host Brazil in a friendly match, and it had some star studded line up including Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr, FC Barcelona’s Raphinha and Chelsea’s Joao Pedro. However, as the European competitions have already kicked off, with injury concerns on the top players.

Chelsea forward Pedro has been withdrawn from Brazil’s squad for the upcoming international friendlies due to injury. The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed that Fluminense midfielder Matheus Martinelli has been called up as his replacement.
Star forward ruled out of Brazil friendlies vs India with injury
Pedro played the full match in Chelsea’s 2-2 Premier League draw with Hull City on 12 September, scoring once and providing an assist, but has since been ruled out. The nature of the injury has not been disclosed.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Brazil, will play Australia on 25 and 29 September before travelling to Kolkata for a historic first senior international against India on 3 October. Pedro had earned a recall after being left out of the 2026 World Cup squad, having started the new season strongly with three goals and three assists in his opening Premier League appearances.
The absence is a blow for Brazil as they begin the post-World Cup cycle and will also be closely monitored by Chelsea ahead of their next Premier League fixture against Brentford. Meanwhile, Chelsea recently drew their most recent game 2-2 vs Hull City. They will next face Brentford next.
