Pedri Gonzalez has delivered on a light-hearted pledge made during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, unveiling a striking new platinum blonde look after Spain’s triumphant campaign. The FC Barcelona star had stated that he would dye his hair white once Spain won the World Cup.

The 23-year-old player changed his hair colour just ahead of his return to the pre-season preparations for the club. The promise which was made during the group stage has now been fulfilled.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday evening, Pedri wrote, “Promesa cumplida!  Todo sea por el campeonato del mundo! ” alongside a photo and short video documenting the dyeing process in a barber’s chair. The transformation takes his signature dark, classic haircut to a bright platinum shade reminiscent of former Real Madrid star Toni Kroos.

Spain lifted their second World Cup title on July 19, defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final at MetLife Stadium, with substitute Ferran Torres scoring the decisive goal in the 106th minute. Pedri, a key figure in Luis de la Fuente’s squad, had publicly vowed during the group stage to dye his hair if La Roja went all the way.

The change comes as several Spanish players honor similar pre-tournament bets. Meanwhile, he is not the only one to have dyed his hair after the World Cup title. Teammate Gavi recently dyed his hair bright pink, while others opted for tattoos or temporary style shifts to celebrate the victory.
