Cristiano Ronaldo, the 39-year-old Portuguese football star, has made the most of the Saudi Pro League's (SPL) winter break by treating his family to a holiday in Lapland, Finland. While Ronaldo has continued to impress on the field, netting 16 goals in 19 games for Al-Nassr, the team has faced a tough season. Under the management of former AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli, Al-Nassr sits in fourth place in the SPL, trailing the leaders, Al-Ittihad, by 11 points.
A Winter Retreat to Lapland
With Al-Nassr on a mid-season break until January 9, Ronaldo took the opportunity to spend quality time with his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, and their children. Lapland, located in Finland’s northernmost region, is renowned for its ski resorts, breathtaking Northern Lights, and its status as the official home of Santa Claus.
During the trip, Ronaldo shared glimpses of his vacation on social media, including a photo of himself in the snow, stripped down to his shorts, showing off his muscular physique. Accompanying the picture, Ronaldo wrote: "Merry Christmas, everyone."
Enjoying the Winter Wonderland
Ronaldo's family made the most of their time in Lapland, visiting Santa Claus and engaging in several winter activities. They were seen enjoying the snowy landscape, with Ronaldo riding a ski-doo and participating in other festive activities. However, Ronaldo refrained from skiing, a sport typically banned for professional footballers due to potential injury risks outlined in their contracts. While Ronaldo stayed clear of skiing, his family embraced the winter sport.
Contrasting Climates: Riyadh vs. Lapland
The vacation marked a stark contrast to Ronaldo's usual life in Riyadh, where temperatures in December average around 17°C. In contrast, Lapland's winter temperatures can range from -16°C to 3°C, with occasional dips as low as -30°C. Despite the colder temperatures, Ronaldo and his family appeared to relish their time away, embracing the holiday spirit in a winter wonderland.
After his festive break, Ronaldo will return to action on January 9 when Al-Nassr faces Al-Okhdood in the SPL. Fans will be eager to see if the break helped him recharge for the remainder of the season.
It has now come to light that Ronaldo is fully embracing the snowy conditions of his current destination. He took his children for a ride on a powerful snowmobile and even made a visit to Santa’s reindeer as they prepared for their crucial gift-delivery duties on December 25.
