Man City fan explains viral 'Arsenal Bottle' stunt at Stamford Bridge
Tal Rehman, the fan in question, revealed he had kept the bottle from a previous match for months without any initial plan. The fan only decided to use it during Sunday's game when Manchester City raced into a 3-0 lead. During an interview with Sky Sports, he revealed:
"I never thought anything of it."
Rehman stated that he brought it along as a light-hearted joke. He described the moment as "showtime baby" before realising the clip had exploded online, leaving him "gobsmacked" as fellow supporters began filming and sharing it.
Rehman insisted he respects fans and stadium rules, framing the act as typical football banter rather than malice. The clip quickly sparked widespread amusement and debate across social media, with rival supporters praising the audacity while others questioned the setup.
Rehman, who has since received hundreds of messages, including from media outlets, appeared unfazed, embracing his newfound meme status. The incident highlights the passionate, often humorous rivalries in the Premier League, especially amid tight title races involving City, Arsenal, and Chelsea.
The Gunners have been on top of the table all this time, only to lose it against Bournemouth, with Pep Guardiola’s side winning it against Chelsea in an away match, closing the gap in the title race. The two are set to play each other in the next game at the Etihad Stadium.
