The UEFA Champions League final will feature two top teams Manchester City and Inter Milan. This will be the first time that the two sides have faced off in the final of a major European final. Inter have had to wait for 13 years to make it to the final, unlike Manchester City, who last made it to the final in 2021.

However, the fortunes in these finals for both teams were different. While Inter beat Bayern Munich 2-0 back in 2021 to seal the trophy, Manchester City suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Chelsea in 2021. With the Italian and English teams battling for the UEFA Champions League crown for the first time since 2005, we go back in time to see how their last final in the competition has panned out.

Inter 2-0 Bayern Munich, Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid

It was the match that gave Inter their first-ever treble under the tutelage of Jose Mourinho. They secured a comfortable 2-0 victory guided by Mourinho's brilliant counter-attacking techniques, with goals scored by former Argentine forward Diego Milito.

The first goal scored by Milito was from a long clearance by Inter goalkeeper Julio Cesar. Wesley Sneijder flicked the ball down to Milito, who returned the pass back for him to score. Milito's second goal came after he collected a pass from Samuel Eto'o and beat Daniel Van Buyten with the ball.

Manchester City 0-1 Chelsea, Porto

Chelsea might have had a poor season this time around but back in 2021, they were the European champions, beating Manchester City to the punch.

It was a very close match between the two sides, but the Blues eventually pushed aside the Premier League Champions with Kai Havertz finally justifying his price tag with the all-important goal. But the highlight of the game was the assist from Mason Mount from the middle of the park. He found his target with a precise ball which the German Havertz then converted with ease.
