The Steelers entered the match riding high on a wave of strong performances and quickly showcased their prowess by establishing a 5-1 lead. Both teams initially focused on their defensive strategies, with the Tamil Thalaivas staging an early comeback via two Super tackles, narrowing the gap to 6-7 in the 11th minute.
The turning point came with Vinay's remarkable raid, which many are calling one of the season's best. Against a three-man defence, Vinay skillfully evaded Himanshu Singh and Nitesh Kumar and then displayed exceptional agility and awareness to cross the mid-line, securing an All-Out and propelling the Steelers to a 14-7 lead. This raid set the tone for the rest of the first half, as the Steelers entered the break comfortably ahead at 18-12.
The Thalaivas struggled in the first half, especially in their raiding department, managing only four raid points. Narender, their ace raider, was substituted out of the game, further dampening their prospects.
In the second half, the Steelers maintained a consistent 7-8 point lead. Shivam Patare stepped up off the bench to spearhead the Steelers' raiding efforts. The Thalaivas saw a glimmer of hope in the 29th minute for a comeback, but Rahul Sethpal's Super tackle on Jatin extended the Steelers' lead to 29-20. This tackle also earned Rahul a High 5.
Despite being reduced to three players twice in the 31st and 33rd minutes, the Steelers' defence held strong, with Rahul and Jaideep Dahiya both executing Super tackles. With just five minutes remaining, the Steelers were leading 35-22. The Thalaivas made efforts to close the gap, but Mohit's Super tackle ensured a victory for Manpreet Singh's team. This 13-point margin of victory was the Steelers' largest win of the season, underscoring their dominance and tactical superiority.
The match was a showcase of strategic gameplay and individual brilliance, with the Haryana Steelers solidifying their position as formidable contenders in the league. The Tamil Thalaivas, despite the exceptional performance from Sahil Gulia, will have to regroup and strategize for their upcoming matches to turn their fortunes around.
