A team backed by Andretti on the Formula 1 grid, US giants set to feature as 11th team from F1 2026

The US giants in the form of Cadillac have been given the green signal to join Formula 1 from the F1 2026 season as the eleventh team on the grid.

The US giants in the form of Cadillac have been given the green signal to join Formula 1 from the F1 2026 season as the eleventh team on the grid. The former entry by Andretti has been approved 'in principle' in late 2024.

The agreement 'in principle' was revealed in late 2024 for Cadillac to join the grid next season. F1 and FIA have given the nod to the American squad, which was firstly backed by a Michael Andretti entry more than two years ago will race in the pinnacle of motorsport from 2026 F1 season. 

Formula 1 gives green signal to Cadillac for F1 2026

A formal approval was presented to Cadillac to join the sport from 2026 season as the manufacturer of the US giants will be none other than General Motors. They have also joined hands with TWG Motorsports. 

General Motors were kind enough to continue their partnership with the former Andretti squad as they took over the venture in late 2024. By taking over the venture, they ended the long dispute between Liberty Media and Andretti.

Cadillac to join hands with Ferrari

Cadillac will use the power units from Ferrari as they have signed a deal with the Prancing Horse for the first season in the sport. But, in the future their aim is to become a full works teams as the announcement was made in early 2025. TWG Motorsports, who will be the racing partner for Cadillac have already formed a new company named, GM Performance Power Units LLC which will help the US giants to become a full works team by 2030. 

FIA president shared his opinion

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem shared his opinion on Cadillac joining the sport from the 2026 season and said,
