Story Highlights:

Jos Verstappen says McLaren duo may feel extra nerves as they face a rare shot at the world title.

Norris controls his destiny, while Piastri needs a complex set of results to stay in the championship fight.

Jos Verstappen thinks McLaren racers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri may feel butterflies in their stomach going into the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix as they compete with Max Verstappen for the championship. He claimed that this might be the only shot either of them gets to become champion, which could mount more pressure.

Max Verstappen's return on the title race

Max Verstappen has made his way back into the 2025 drivers' championship and has now overtaken Oscar Piastri for P2 ahead of the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi. After seeming out of the title race, the Dutch racer needed to overcome just a 12-point difference to Lando Norris in the last race.

His father, Jos, Believes that the McLaren camp might be feeling a lot of pressure ahead of the race in the UAE, as this could be the only chance either Norris or Piastri gets to win a title. The Verstappen camo also seems to be going into the race much less to lose.

"I can imagine there's some nervousness at McLaren, because this might be both drivers' only chance at a world title. You never know if you'll find yourself in that position again, right?," said Jos. [via formule1.nl]

"But it's like Max says: you either become champion or you don't. If it doesn't work out, we'll try again next year," he added.

Big shot for Lando Norris

Lando Norris would become world champion if he manages to finish on the podium at the Yas Marina Circuit on Sunday, regardless of any other result. But if Max Verstapppen secures win again in Abu Dhabi, Norris will have to finish at least third to claim his maiden title.

Complex situation for Oscar Piastri

The equation has become far more complex for Oscar Piastri  since Qatar, leaving him third in the standings and 16 points behind. The Aussie now needs his teammate to finish sixth or lower to have any chance of taking the title with a win.
