The Singapore Grand Prix Winner 2024, Lando Norris delivered an impressive performance to secure pole position for the United States Grand Prix, with his initial lap in Q3 standing as the benchmark after a dramatic incident involving George Russell.  Norris clocked in a time of 1m 32.330s during the opening runs, stunning the competition and briefly pushing Max Verstappen from the top spot in Q1 and Q2. Although Norris’s second lap didn’t improve on his first, the session was ultimately cut short when Russell crashed at Turn 19, bringing out double yellow flags. Fortunately, Russell emerged from the wreck unharmed.

As a result, Norris’s time held firm, earning him the pole, while Verstappen followed closely in second, just 0.031 seconds behind. Carlos Sainz claimed third for Ferrari, with his teammate Charles Leclerc in fourth. McLaren’s Oscar Piastri rounded out the top five, while Russell's earlier effort secured him sixth.

Alpine’s Pierre Gasly impressed with a strong seventh-place finish, followed by Fernando Alonso in eighth for Aston Martin. Kevin Magnussen made a notable return to Q3 with a ninth-place effort for Haas, and Sergio Perez faced some challenges, finishing in tenth after having an opening lap time disqualified due to track limits.

Yuki Tsunoda narrowly missed out on a spot in Q3, finishing the session in P11. Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg from Haas was also eliminated in Q2 after a lock-up during his final attempt. Esteban Ocon ended up 13th for Alpine, with Lance Stroll in 14th for Aston Martin and RB's Liam Lawson in 15th. Lawson had shown promise in Q1 but didn’t set a timed lap in Q2, as he will start from the back of the grid due to power unit penalties.

In a surprising turn of events during Q1, Lewis Hamilton struggled to improve on his lap and ended up in P16 after a messy middle sector. With no time left to make another attempt, the seven-time champion found himself pushed down to P19.

"It was a beautiful lap. I was not going to go much quicker than what I did. You know when you just do a lap and you think it’s going to be tough to beat that, but I put everything out on the line. It’s all we needed to do. We’ve been on the back foot pretty much the whole weekend. We’ve not had the pace of the Ferraris or the Red Bulls so I had to do something, and today I did that. A cool lap and a nice way to start the race tomorrow,"  said pole-sitter Norris as quoted by F1.
