With reigning champions being threatened by the upcoming contenders and fresh faces determined to reach the upper echelons, UFC is set to have a huge 2025. The enthusiasts could witness new superstars rising to the top and take the baton from the current titleholders. The best bets are on fighters like Khamzat Chimaev and Bryce Mitchell to claim the championship in 2025. However, there is another fighter who has made significant rumblings in the heavyweight division and could get the deserved title shot during the next 12 months.
Joe Rogan Wishes To Witness Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall in 2025
Tom Aspinall is seen as a big threat to Jon Jones' championship reign and his legacy as an undefeated fighter. Thus, a fitting end to know whether Aspinall could do what 29 others tried and couldn't will be to put him in front of the UFC Heavyweight Champion. Fight fans from different corners of the world want the match-up between the Interim Heavyweight Champion and Jones to materialize and the section encompasses the name of the famed UFC commentator Joe Rogan as well.
During a recent episode of his podcast, Rogan paid heed to the fight and expressed hope that the UFC CEO Dana White would book the fight in 2025. “God, I hope they fight."
Tom Aspinall has so far finished almost all of his opponents inside Round 1 of the respective fight, giving substance to Rogan to weight in on the other side of the dominance. In the career span of 15 fights, Tom has been pushed to the second round only thrice, and he lost two of those three encounters.
I wanna know [what would happen]. Here’s the question with Aspinall. What happens to Aspinall in the second round?
If you wanna talk about a guy who sprints.
If you wanna talk about a guy who is fast-twitch, Aspinall might be the fastest heavyweight in the history of the sport.
I don’t think anybody moves like that guy does.
"At a 250lb+ frame, his movement is extraordinary, and that’s something you have to deal with.
That is a crazy ability. His ability to move the way he moves is so much different to everybody else in the sport.
[His] hand speed and full range of skills.
[He's got] incredible standup knocks guys out with one punch, [he's a] black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, really good wrestler.
He has everything and he’s young.
According to Rogan, Aspinall is a worthy contender for Jon Jones but whether the fight will get to the Octagon or not will depend on Jon Jones. In the past, Bones has been reluctant about speaking freely about fighting Tom Aspinall, leaving fans to speculate that he himself considers the Brit to be a threat to his undefeated record. Joe Rogan however has rubbished the conjectures.
The 55-year-old said:
[Jon Jones] has never said behind the scenes, 'I won't fight Tom Aspinall.' It's the exact opposite.
Jon Jones is like 37 [or] 38 years old now, has these huge gaps in between fights.
"He is not afraid to fight Tom Aspinall."
"He will fight Tom Aspinall and it will be the biggest fight in UFC history.
