Jon Jones responds decisively to a renewed challenge from his former rival.

Recent exchanges between the two legends spark fresh buzz around a potential showdown.

Jon Jones has firmly shut down speculation surrounding a potential rematch with longtime rival Daniel Cormier, despite renewed tension between the two during their latest stint as opposing coaches.

Rivalry rekindled, but no return to combat

Jones and Cormier share one of the most intense rivalries in UFC history, having faced off twice inside the Octagon. Their clashes, marked by bad blood and high stakes, saw Jones emerge victorious—first by decision in 2015 and later by knockout in a rematch that was ultimately ruled a no contest.

Now, nearly a decade removed from their last fight, the rivalry has resurfaced through their involvement in the ALF Reality series, where the pair are serving as opposing coaches. Their exchanges have reignited conversations about a possible trilogy bout, albeit outside traditional MMA competition.

Daniel Cormier issues wrestling challenge

Cormier, an Olympic wrestler and former UFC champion, has openly called for a wrestling showdown with Jon Jones, expressing confidence in his ability to win.

“Wrestling match? 15-0 American wrestling, international wrestling 10-0, Greco-Roman wrestling — anything that ends in the word wrestling, let me and Jones do it, and I’ll (win),” Cormier said.

“I told him let’s bet. We can bet 50 grand apiece. We can bet 50 grand apiece before we go wrestle,” he added.

The challenge quickly gained traction among fans, with many intrigued by the prospect of the two legends settling their rivalry in a different arena.

Jon Jones responds with finality

However, Jones wasted no time in dismissing the idea. Reacting to the clip on social media, he made his stance unmistakably clear.

“(eye roll emoji) You’ve had your chance DC,” he wrote.

The response effectively shuts the door on any immediate rematch, reinforcing Jones’ position that their competitive chapter is already closed.

While Daniel Cormier has long retired from active competition and transitioned into commentary, Jon Jones’ future remains uncertain. The former champion recently hinted at retirement before reversing course following discussions about a potential return.

For now, though, one thing appears certain—fans hoping for another Jones vs. Cormier showdown may have to let go of that expectation.
