Joe Logano won the NASCAR 2024 Championship. Following another thrilling NASCAR Playoff run, the 2024 series champions will be honored this week during the highly-anticipated NASCAR Champions Week, now taking place in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the first time. The weeklong celebration will culminate with the NASCAR Awards ceremony on Friday night, held at the Charlotte Convention Center's Grand Ballroom. The banquet and festivities will be broadcast on the CW Network on Sunday at 3 p.m. ET.

Logano's history

This year, Team Penske's Joey Logano, the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series champion, will be celebrated for his third title win. Logano's achievements have earned him the distinction of being honored in three different championship locations: Las Vegas (2018), Nashville (2022), and now Charlotte.

Logano secured his third championship by outlasting a Championship Four that included his Penske teammate and 2023 runner-up, Ryan Blaney, as well as Hendrick Motorsports' William Byron and 23XI Racing's Tyler Reddick. Logano clinched the title after a dramatic finish in the Nov. 10 Phoenix season finale.

"I love the Playoffs, What a race and what a Team Penske battle there at the end,"  Logano said during the trophy presentation in Phoenix.

He added with a smile, “We have three of them [championships]. That’s really special.”

NASCAR Championship Week

Logano’s victory marks a significant moment in NASCAR history. Not only is it Team Penske's third consecutive NASCAR Cup Series title, but it also makes Logano the first driver to win three championships with Ford. He is only the 10th driver in NASCAR history to achieve this feat. His three titles are now the most among active full-time drivers.

While Logano’s achievement takes center stage, NASCAR Championship Week is also a celebration of the sport as a whole. Among the highlights are the recognition of Hendrick Motorsports' Chase Elliott, who has won the National Motorsports Press Association’s Most Popular Driver Award for six consecutive years. The week also honors those behind the scenes who contribute to the sport but may not always receive the spotlight.

The entire NASCAR Cup Series Playoff field of 16 will be in attendance, including past series champions such as Elliott (2020), Kyle Larson (2021), Brad Keselowski (2012), and retiring champion Martin Truex Jr. (2017). First-time champions from the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will also be recognized, with JR Motorsports' Justin Allgaier and ThorSport Racing's Ty Majeski receiving accolades.

More Details on Event

Another key highlight of Championship Week is the announcement of the finalists for the Comcast Community Champion of the Year Award. This year’s finalists include driver Erik Jones, NASCAR employee Scott Crowell, and Charlotte Motor Speedway employee Susan McKee.

The prestigious Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award, which honors those who "make a difference in children’s lives through local children’s organizations," will also be presented. The finalists for this award are Tammy Raulerson (College Station, Texas), Judy Simmons (Axton, Virginia), Carlos Washington (Florence, South Carolina), and Julie Wooldridge (Mooresville, North Carolina).

Additionally, the Bill France Award of Excellence, which recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to NASCAR, will be awarded. This honor is particularly notable as it has only been given to two individuals in the past five years: Goodyear CEO Rich Cramer in 2023 and seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson in 2020.

Others Award presentation

Other significant award presentations include the NMPA Myers Brothers Award, which acknowledges outstanding contributions to stock-car racing. This year’s nominees include retiring Xfinity Series director Wayne Auton, NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, the Erik Jones Foundation, Larson, former Talladega chairman Grant Lynch, NASCAR Hall of Fame executive director Winston Kelley, retiring PRN play-by-play announcer Doug Rice, and retiring president of Toyota Racing Development David Wilson.

The formal part of Championship Week kicks off on Thursday with a celebration of NASCAR’s regional and international series, including the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series, the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, ARCA Menards Series, ARCA Menards Series East and West, as well as NASCAR’s international series: the NASCAR Brasil Series, NASCAR Canada Series, NASCAR Mexico Series, and the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.
