After the win, he pulled out a white paper sheet with a message written on it: 'Task is not finished yet. Wait, I am still standing'. The paper had 10.10 seconds written on it, just 0.01 seconds more than what he had achieved on May 23 evening. He crossed the 10.16 seconds qualifying team set by Athletics Federation of India (AFI) to qualify for Commonwealth Games 2026.

"This record is to prove that I’m not finished and still have power in my legs," said Gurvindervir after crossing the finish line during a press interaction.

However, his coach James Hillier does not want him to be satisfied with his current national record. He wants him to lower it in the next few months.

"He is learning to execute the plans in the races and his performance graph is getting better,” said Hillier.

India's Asian Games silver medallist Tejaswin Shankar also scripted history by becoming the first Indian to cross the 8000 point barrier in the Decathalon.
