Praveen Kumar's gold medal, achieved by clearing 2.08m, marked India's sixth gold medal of the Paris Para Games, surpassing the country's previous best tally at the Tokyo Paralympics.

 

Praveen Kumar bags gold for India in Paralympics

 

This was Kumar's second consecutive Para Games medal, following his silver medal in Tokyo. Dharambir also contributed to India's success by winning the men's club throw F51 final with an Asian record throw of 34.92m. This gold medal brought India's total gold medal count at the Paris Paralympics to five, equaling the number won in Tokyo. India's overall performance at the Tokyo Paralympic Games included five gold, six silver, and eight bronze medals. The country's continued success in the Paris Paralympics demonstrates the growing strength and talent of Indian para-athletes on the global stage.

India's Historic Paralympic Success in Paris

 

India achieved its most successful Paralympic Games ever in Paris, securing a total of five gold, eight silver, and ten bronze medals. This remarkable haul surpassed the country's previous best performance at a single edition of the Games. Avani Lekhara defended her women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 Paralympic title, marking India's first gold medal of the Paris Paralympics. Nitesh Kumar also contributed to India's success by winning the gold medal in para badminton men's singles SL3. Kumar defeated Great Britain's Daniel Bethell in a thrilling three-set match to claim India's second gold medal.

Sumit Antil further solidified India's dominance with a Paralympic record-breaking performance in the men's javelin throw F64, securing India's third gold medal. Harvinder Singh made history by winning India's first-ever gold medal in para archery, defeating Poland's Lukasz Ciszek in the men's individual recurve open final. Singh's victory marked India's fourth gold medal of the Paris Paralympics.
