Rey Mysterio has recently looked back on his memorable rivalry with one of WWE’s greatest superstars, Kurt Angle. Mysterio’s career in WWE began in the summer of 2002, a period when he was already a well-known name in the wrestling world, thanks to his successful stints in ECW and WCW, where he was regarded as one of the greatest cruiserweights of all time.

Mysterio’s first WWE pay-per-view appearance took place at the legendary SummerSlam 2002, where he faced off against WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle. The match is still remembered for its fast-paced action, with Angle eventually securing a win after making Mysterio tap out to the Ankle Lock in just ten minutes.

In a heartfelt social media post, Kurt Angle shared a photo with Mysterio and expressed his admiration for him. He wrote, “Hanging out with one of my favorite opponents of all time… @reymysterio Love ya Rey!”

Rey Mysterio responded on Instagram, showing his appreciation for Angle and reminiscing about their time together in the ring. “So great seeing & chopping it up wit u Kurt! No Cap, doing playback today from SummerSlam 2002 took me back to a very special time in my career,” Mysterio wrote. “Wanna thank you for trusting and choosing me as your opponent to kick off my very first @wwe ppv, with instant chemistry that led to incredible magic that became a beautiful friendship still to this day! Honored & truly blessed to have shared so many memorable moments!!! 🙏🏼 love u Kurt & #YouSuck 🫶🏼”

Rey Mysterio Dreams of Reuniting with His Son, Dominik

While Rey Mysterio is currently leading the LWO group on WWE's Raw brand, his relationship with his son, Dominik Mysterio, has taken a dramatic turn in recent years. For over two years, Dominik has been at odds with his father, but Rey has made it clear that he would love to team up with his son again one day.

In an emotional statement, Rey shared, “That’s something that, as a father, they always would love to have with their kids. To be able to reconnect. And end of how you started on the good side. So, I don’t know if that’s going to happen. But over the years, people change. Sometimes for good, sometimes for bad.”

Rey went on to express his hope that one day Dominik will realize the importance of being on the Mysterios’ side. “Hopefully, one day Dom can see the bright side of being on the Mysterios’ side. And just being family overall. But I think that’s going to be very hard. I’m dreaming. I am just dreaming.”

Before their dramatic split, Rey and Dominik made history as the first father-son duo to become WWE Tag Team Champions. Rey's dream of reuniting with his son remains a heartfelt hope for the future.
