PV Sindhu advanced to the Madrid Spain Masters quarterfinals after a comprehensive win over Chinese Taipei's Huang Yu-Hsun in straight games. Sindhu is favourite to win the trophy after Spain's Carolina Marin pulled out of the tournament. MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapil entered the men's doubles quarterfinal with a 21-17 21-19 win against Scotland's Christopher Grimley and Matthew Grimley. The mixed doubles pair of B Sumeeth Reddy and N Sikki Reddy made it to the last eight with a win over USA's Presley Smith and Allison Lee. Also, Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponappa reached the women's doubles quarterfinals with an easy win against Australia's Tiffany Ho and Gronya Somerville.

 

AIFF and coach Igor Stimac put on notice by government

The shocking 1-2 defeat to lower-ranked Afghanistan at the FIFA World Cup 2006 qualifiers is set to have serious repercussions. Head coach Igor Stimac and the All India Football Federation (AIFF) are under scrutiny after the team’s dipping performances despite a major increase in the influx of funds of late. India have not registered a win in their last six games.

 

Bopanna-Ebden into Miami Open final

Rohan Bopanna and his Australian partner Matthew Ebden reached the men's doubles final of the Miami Open with an easy win over Spain's Granollers and Argentina's Zeballos. 

 

Elena Rybakina made a terrific comeback against Belarusia's Victoria Azarenka after a 0-6 loss in the second set to reach the Miami Open final. 

 

Carlos Alcaraz crashed out of the tournament with a defeat to Spain's Grigor Dimitrov. After a 6-2, 6-4 win, the Spaniard will face Alexander Zverev in the final.

High-voltage clash between RCB and KKR

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their second home clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Considering the history between RCB opener Virat Kohli and KKR mentor Gautam Gambhir, it is expected to be a high-voltage encounter. 

 

England’s 4-1 win over New Zealand

England Women beat New Zealand Women by five wickets and seven balls to spare in the fifth and final T20I to win the series 4-1. Nat Sciver-Brunt won the 'Player of the match' award for her all-round show. White Fern's wicketkeeper-batter Isabella Gaze's unbeaten 28-ball 51 went in vain. England's Maia Bouchier won the 'Player of the series' award for scoring 223 runs.

 

Another T20I series for Pakistan

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that Pakistan will play three T20I series against Ireland before the T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and the West Indies. Pakistan will play a total of 12 T20Is in the lead-up to the mega event starting in June.

USA announce squad for T20 World Cup 2024

USA announced their squad for the T20 World Cup 2024. Unmukt Chand did not find a place whereas former New Zealand player Corey Anderson is set to make a comeback to international cricket. India's former Under-19 World cricketer Harmeet Singh was named in the squad as well alongside Milind Kumar.

Delhi Capitals suffer another defeat as Riyan Parag smashes unbeaten 84

Riyan Parag registered his IPL career-best score of an unbeaten 84 against Rishabh Pant-led DC in their second home game. RR beat DC by 12 runs as Tristan Stubbs’ quickfire 44 went in vain.

Nottingham Forest legend passes away

Former England international Larry Lloyd who was a vital cog in the wheel in Nottingham Forest's back-to-back European Cup-winning side passed away on March 28. He was 75.

 

Overseas replacements in IPL

South Africa's left-arm off-spinner Keshav Maharaj replaced an injured Prasidh Krishna in the Rajasthan Royals (RR) squad. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of their clash against RCB announced Afghanistan Allah Ghazanfar has replaced Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the squad.
