After losing the UFC Light-Heavyweight title to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 313, Alex Pereira is set to receive an immediate opportunity to reclaim the title. The rematch between Pereira and Ankalaev might be announced soon, and the fight could take place later in the year. The first encounter was at the end of the intrigue of fight fans worldwide but considering the way how the contest panned out, the rematch could have a reduced traction. However, the new king of the Light-Heavyweight division intends to keep the word he gave to Pereira.

Magomed Ankalaev Offers Rematch to Alex Pereira

Magomed Ankalaev has offered to give a quick rematch to Alex Pereira and is even willing to wait for him. Ankalaev hails Pereira as a "deserved" contender for the title rematch. It should be noted that the two fighters traded some acrimonious shots on social media in the build-up to the UFC 313 fight. However, following the culmination of the fight, it is all respect between the two and Ankalaev's gesture towards his opponent Alex Pereira is evidence of that.

Coming into UFC 313, Alex Pereira entered as the champion and was significantly favoured by the odds to retain the title. However, Pereira exhibited a measured approach and remained defensive in the majority of the five rounds. Magomed Ankalaev was also cautious, but he picked his moments in between to eventually emerge victorious.

Magomed Ankalaev vs Alex Pereira 2: Will it be any different from its predecessor?

Now the question is, will the second showcase between the two in the Octagon will go any differently? To make his prospects better, the Brazilian would have to make further adjustments to his approach. Pereira did an outstanding job in defending the takedowns throughout the fight, but he will have to figure out a way to launch his shots as well. Ankalaev on the other hand might follow the same strategy and wait for his moments to pounce upon.
