Carlos Alcaraz secured historic win over Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open 2026 final. The Spaniard secured a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5 win over the Serbian icon on Sunday, February 1. Interestingly, Alcaraz won the Australian Open for the very first time in his playing career.

Big feat for Carlos Alcaraz

With this win over Djokovic, the 22-year-old Spanish player became the youngest player ever to complete the career Grand Slam in the open era. The game started with an unexpected event as Djokovic secured the first set (2-6) with an outstanding presence of mind. The Spaniard managed to win six Grand Slam titles before today.

Later, Alcaraz gained control of the game right from the second set (6-2). The game went for four sets but the Spanish turned out to be victorious over the Serbian legend.

Big loss for Novak Djokovic

Serbia's Novak Djokovic had a golden chance of winning his 25th Grand Slam title, but failed to get success. This could have been the golden chance for the Serbian legend, he already overtook Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in terms of winning the most number of Grand Slams. If Djokovic would have won the Australian Open then he would overtake Australia's Margaret Court. Both Djokovic and Court have the same number of Grand Slam titles (24).

But when it came to holding his serve for one last time in the fourth set, Djokovic crumbled. The Serbian icon fought till the end of the game as the Spanish clinched the Australian Open for the first time in his career. Overall, this is the seventh time Alcaraz won a Grand Slam and also the youngest to win the Australian Open.
