Coco Gauff calls her 2025 campaign “filled with disappointments” but remains proud of her achievements.

The 21-year-old vows to regroup after a turbulent year and come back refreshed for the 2026 season.

Coco Gauff has officially wrapped up her 2025 season after a turbulent yet eventful year that tested both her physical and mental resolve. The American star bowed out of the WTA Finals in the round-robin stage, marking a frustrating end to a campaign that began with immense promise but gradually spiraled into inconsistency.

A year of highs and lows

For Gauff, 2025 was a year of emotional extremes — from the euphoric triumph of her Roland Garros victory to the struggles that followed on hard courts. Despite lifting the French Open title in spectacular fashion, her subsequent performances were marred by recurring issues with her forehand and serve. Those technical flaws became increasingly evident as the season progressed, prompting major changes within her coaching setup.

Just before the US Open, Coco Gauff made the bold decision to overhaul her team entirely, bringing in biomechanics specialist Gavin MacMillan in hopes of refining her technique and regaining control over her game. The move reflected a mature understanding of her weaknesses and a willingness to rebuild from the ground up — a testament to her determination despite the setbacks.

Following her WTA Finals exit, Gauff took to Instagram to share a heartfelt reflection on her 2025 journey. The 21-year-old admitted that while the season was far from perfect, it was also a period of learning and gratitude.

She wrote, “My 2025 season is officially over and it was a longggg one. I played my first match of this season December 29th, 2024 and my last match of the season November 6th, 2025.”

Acknowledging the emotional toll of a long and unpredictable campaign, Coco Gauff added, “It was filled with some disappointments but mainly positives and when I look back at it, I feel proud of all the things I accomplished. I love this sport and I am grateful for all of its ups and downs.”

Her message also reflected deep appreciation for the journey, both on and off the court. “Very few feelings come close to the euphoria you feel when you are living in a dream come true or a prayer come to fruition and I am eternally grateful to God for these experiences and the opportunity to feel this feeling constantly.”

Looking ahead to 2026

Though the season ended on a sour note, Coco Gauff’s statement carried an unmistakable tone of optimism. She closed her message with gratitude toward her supporters, saying,

“Thank you guys for your love and support, thank you to my family, my friends, my team, and God. Time for a little rest and then back to the grind….see you guys back on court next year, we uppppp.”

With renewed focus and a strengthened support team, Gauff is expected to use the offseason to fine-tune her form and return stronger in 2026.
