The tennis cousins are something everyone has been talking about during the whole Shanghai Open tournament. The  ATP 1000 Masters event had the most improbable men’s tennis story of the year which pitted two cousins in the final. 

Valentin Vacherot’s emotional on-camera message after he beat cousin Arthur Rinderknech to win the Shanghai Open

It was a cousin's final at the event in China where Vacherot beat Arthur Rinderknech to win the Shanghai Open and become Monaco's first ATP singles champion in the Open Era. The final ended in tears, family, and history after overcoming his cousin with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. 

In addition to all this, he also became the lowest-ranked player ever to win a Masters 1000 event. It is indeed a week to remember for the newly-crowned Shanghai winner and he did not forget to remember his family. After the victory, the player, who was overwhelmed with emotion before sharing an embrace with his older cousin, wrote an emotional message to the camera which read: 

“Grandpa and Grandma would be proud.”

Also, after the historic win and during the trophy ceremony, Vacherot, in a cracking voice, mentioned that it was one of the “best moments” of his life. Vacherot defeated Novak Djokovic in the semifinals while Rinderknech came past Daniil Medvedev to set a cousins final. In attendance was Swiss maestro Roger Federer watching from the stands.
