Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was officially named the 2025-26 Kia NBA Most Valuable Player on Tuesday, receiving the Michael Jordan Trophy in a ceremony before the Oklahoma City Thunder's Western Conference Finals game against the San Antonio Spurs.

The presentation, conducted by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver in front of a roaring home crowd in Oklahoma City, featured SGA hoisting the trophy amid thunderous applause. The 27-year-old Canadian guard's back-to-back MVP feat places him alongside legends like Nikola Jokić, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Tim Duncan, and Steve Nash as repeat winners in the modern era.

The Thunder star becomes just the 14th player in NBA history and one of seven this century to win the award in consecutive seasons. Gilgeous-Alexander dominated the voting, earning 83 first-place votes. He delivered another elite season, averaging 31.1 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.3 rebounds per game while shooting 55.3% from the field across 68 games. 

The Thunder guard also led the league in clutch points and earned Kia Clutch Player of the Year honors. Under his leadership, the Thunder posted the league's best record at 64-18 and secured the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference despite significant injuries.
