Virat Kohli and India celebrating win

Story Highlights:

Mohammed Siraj picked up 23 wickets in Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.

Anderson-Tendulkar Tropyhy 2025 ended in a draw as India beat England by 6 runs.

Former India captain Virat Kohli lavished praise on the Shubman Gill-led side after their brilliant six-run win in a nail-biter fifth Test match of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, and with that win, the five-Test match series ended in a 2-2 draw. Kohli, who is a role model for Mohammed Siraj, especially mentioned the speedster for his efforts in the five-Test match series against England.

Kohli, who announced his Test retirement before the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter to laud the Shubman Gill-led side.

"Great win by team india. Resilience and determination from Siraj and Prasidh has given us this phenomenal victory. Special mention to Siraj who will put everything on the line for the team. Extremely happy for him" wrote Virat Kohli.

Mohammed Siraj also responded to his role model for his social media post after India's win.

Siraj is the only Indian pacer who played all five Test matches of the series and ended the campaign as the highest wicket-taker with 23 scalps in 10 innings, bowling 185.3 overs, which is the most by any bowler in the ongoing series. When asked about his workload management, he responded that he doesn't bowl for himself; it's for the country.

"Body is fine...I don't care if it's the sixth over or the ninth over for me. I don't bowl for myself, it is for my country," he said.

Coming back to the fifth Test, England needed 35 runs to win with four wickets in hand, and the hosts held the edge before the start of play, but the gladiator in Siraj made life hell for the opposition batters from ball one.

In the end, his effort, complemented quite well by Prasidh Krishna at the other end, left England short by the thinnest of margins and allowed India to sign off 2-2 in the high-pressure five-match rubber.
