Jasprit Bumrah has made a roaring comeback in the ODI format after a long wait of 968 days, as the star pacer clinched his first wicket in the fifty over format in the ongoing opening game against England on July 14 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. Notably, prior to the first ODI vs England, Bumrah last played an ODI game in 2023.

England ODI skipper, Harry Brook won the toss and opted to bat first against the Men in Blue. Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna kicked off the opening spells against the quality English side. The 32-year-old pacer bowled a series of tight line deliveries against the opening duo of Ben Duckett and Jacob Bethell. As an outcome, Bumrah managed to keep the openers silent during his first spell.

After the English openers were removed by Gurnoor Brar, Bumrah was brought back by Shubman Gill in the hunt of another breakthrough. Without disappointing anyone, the premier Indian pacer used a clever slower delivery to deceive Brook in the 14th over, as he pitched an outside the off-stump at which English skipper tried to take it on but got a thick outside edge which was perfectly collected by Rohit Sharma at the first slip.

With this, Bumrah achieved another major milestone in his career, as he completed 150 wickets in the fifty-over format of the game. Now, the star speedster will look to contribute more with the ball to help India claim a dominant win over England in the first ODI.

Currently, The Three Lions are reeling at 111-6 in 23.1 overs, with Liam Dawson and Joe Root playing at the middle. It will be interesting to see where England will finish after enduring a disastrous start.
